Short Description:

1. Product Introduction

l This equipment uses flame generated by a specified igniter to ignite the surface or bottom edge of a vertical specimen, measures the time required for the specimen to ignite upon flame exposure, and calculates the average value.

l Suitable for various single-layer or multi-layer textile fabrics (coated, quilted, multi-layer, sandwich and similar composites) and industrial textile products.

l Used to evaluate the performance of textile fabrics when exposed to flame under laboratory-controlled conditions.May not be suitable for environments with insufficient air supply or prolonged heating in large fires.

l The effect of seams on fabric burning performance can be measured by this method. Seams shall be positioned on the specimen to be exposed to the test flame. Where practicable, decorative components should be tested as part of the fabric assembly.

l This instrument complies with GB/T 8746-2009: Flammability of Fabrics – Determination of Ease of Ignition of Vertical Specimens.

 

2. Relevant Definitions

(1) Afterflame Time: Under specified test conditions, the duration of flaming combustion of a material after removal of the ignition source.(Note: Afterflame time is recorded as an integer. If less than 1 second, record as 0s.)

(2) Ignition: The start of combustion.

(3) Ignition: Afterflame time ≥ 5s, or flame reaches the top or vertical edge within 5s.

(4) Minimum Ignition Time: Under specified test conditions, the shortest time a material must be exposed to an ignition source to achieve sustained combustion.
